Canine Rehabilitation

Analogous to physiotherapy, rehabilitation is a combination of exercise therapy, manual therapy, and other medical modalities and treatments including but not limited to massage, acupuncture, laser therapy, and joint injections. Its purpose is to help restore and optimize bodily function and manage pain. It is most commonly utilized post injury and post surgery, in arthritic patients, for neurologic cases, and can also be used to further condition our canine athletes. Exercise therapy is the cornerstone of rehab, and does require commitment and regular input from both you and your pet.

Rehabilitation Process

Rehab Consult & Diagnosis

A comprehensive gait analysis, musculoskeletal and neurologic exam are performed along with muscle  size and strength measurements and joint range of motion testing. Diagnostics such as radiographs may be recommended if indicated and not already performed.

Recovery & Rehab

We work to develop a rehab plan that works for you. This may include rehab therapy and exercises that you perform at home or in clinic, manual therapies, pain medications, laser therapy, joint injections and more depending on the condition being managed.

Reassessment

Depending on the condition, frequency of treatments and reassessments may vary from daily to every few weeks. We continue to adjust the program as things progress.
